Doggy Randonnee & Icy Hotel

Last trip of the season (most likely) to the Finnish Lapland. Took our pow loving dog out for a proper randonnee for the first time at Pallas. She was a trooper but after 3+ hours of ascent and icy descent she was trying to hitch a ride on our skis or traveled on my shoulder.

We also visited the Snow Village in Lainio and it was definitely something worth seeing. Didn’t even realize there was something like it in Finland. The snow and ice decorations in the rooms are carved by Chinese artists every year. The exceptionally clear ice is carved from the local lake. The shots are from the suites (the ice blocks are the bed headboards) and the chapel in the hotel. There was plenty of more to see like the ice bars and restaurants and hallways full of the strangest ice sculptures lit in bright colours.
